Welcome Clementine!

If you follow me on Instagram you will have noticed we have a new addition to our home.

She came home with us a couple of weeks ago.

She was at the same shelter Cole was from. We are all learning to live together. It is a process.

Cole and Clem have their own Instagram!

Everyday Life 5

If you follow me on Instagram you know I’m obsessed with knitting a blanket made up of mitered squares. I am seriously loving this pattern. There are so many variations on the mitered square blanket, I am using the Tikki Knits pattern. It is only two rows so easy to memorize. While it is still small enough to carry I am taking it with me out to knit night, laundry day and such. It is perfect tv knitting, too. Someday it will fit on a queen size bed.

Everyday Life 4

Changing out clothes from winter to summer is necessary when  you have small closets. I try to do it around mid-April if only because I’m sick of the cold and having to wear sweaters (if it they do have Totoro on them). I really should do it after my birthday, though.

Best Birthday Cake in the Universe

My birthday was this week. I love the cake we had for my family celebration. If you know anything about Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy then the cake will give you an idea about how old I turned.

Dyane’s Sweet Tooth in Cumberland, RI made the cake. The sponge was lemon with a whipped raspberry filling. Delicious!

Do you know where your towel is at?

Pink Cake

I made a pink cake! I had made it for Easter at my mom’s. It was really fun. Everyone raved about it. I’d totally make it again. Next time I would add more gel to make the colour more intense. Tip for adding gel colour, lightly dip/brush a toothpick into batter/icing. I learned that the hard way and ended up with bright pink-red index finger and thumb for a few days. I also need to work on my icing skills. Mary Berry would not be pleased.

On The Needles

Currently OTN (on the needles for the non-fiber people), a scrap blanket using mitered squares besides the cable scarf for Mr. Geek (I promise I will be done it someday). There are so many versions of this type of blanket. I am using Tikki Knits recipe. I like that it is basically only two rows so it’s easy to remember and for now I can take it with me to knit night or a cafe. This is going to be a very long term project. I’ve done the math to figure out how many squares I need to make a queen size blanket. It’s a lot. I’ll just leave it at that. I finished square two last night.
